Warner Music Latina signs paopao, Jota Rosa and JOTAERRE
The label announced three Puerto Rico signings. paopao, the Latin Grammy-winning songwriter behind Chiquis' "Ticket de Salida," came back on October 8 with "grax" on COLORS.
Warner Music Latina has signed three Puerto Rico acts: paopao, Jota Rosa and JOTAERRE. The label announced them together on Instagram as "Collection Puerto Rico." Francisco Granados, its senior vice president of A&R, told LaChicuela the signings are a bet on artists with personality and creative freedom.
paopao, born Paola Nicole Marrero Rodríguez, wrote for other artists before she stepped out front. She studied at the University of Miami's Frost School of Music, earned a master's in music business and worked in publishing and A&R. She has songwriting credits with CNCO and won a Latin Grammy as a co-writer of Chiquis' "Ticket de Salida."
Her own releases started in 2021 at RichMusic, where she was the label's first female artist, Remezcla reported. In 2022 she led hembrismo, an all-women EP with Villano Antillano, La Gabi, Aria Vega and Cami Da Baby, then put out relaciones tóxicas with iZaak, her first solo EP diamantes y espinas, and an "algo así" remix with Mora.
The Warner deal comes right after her return. On October 8 she released "grax" as a COLORS session after time away from the stage. COLORS describes it as a song about burnout, contradiction and self-acceptance. She is working on a new single that LaChicuela describes as personal.
Jota Rosa has spent close to ten years producing and writing for Bad Bunny, Rauw Alejandro, Feid, Young Miko, J Balvin and Selena Gomez. His latest single, "Detective" with Álvaro Díaz, is the first look at his album Un pajarito me dijo…
JOTAERRE, Joaquín Rodríguez from Guaynabo, broke out on "Un Viaje" with Karol G, Alejo and Moffa and released his debut album TODO ESTÁ BIEN in 2024. He started SAINT FLAMA, a three-part project, with SAINT FLAMA I on October 1.
