ToneDen shuts down December 1: what happens to your smart links, ads and data

ToneDen goes offline December 1, 2026. Smart links stop, ads keep spending until you pause them, and data is deleted after November 30.

ToneDen is shutting down. The company says toneden.io goes offline on December 1, 2026, and on that day every ToneDen smart link stops working, ad automation ends, and account data is deleted. Until November 30, the platform keeps running and users can still manage campaigns, edit links and download their data.

The company's only explanation is one line in its FAQ: it has "decided to discontinue the standalone ToneDen platform." It is not offering a direct replacement.

Every link type goes dark

The shutdown covers all of ToneDen's link products: FanLinks, pre-save links, TourLinks, EventLinks, PodLinks, StreamLinks, BigLinks and GiveLinks. Links on custom domains stop too. To reuse a custom domain, update or remove its DNS records at the registrar.

That reaches further than most people expect. A ToneDen link printed on a tour poster, a merch tag or a QR code on a flyer will stop resolving on December 1. ToneDen's own checklist names social bios, websites, email signatures, active ads, email campaigns, printed QR codes and merch. All of a user's links are listed under Smart Links in the dashboard, which is the place to start an inventory.

Pre-saves need the most care. Any release scheduled after December 1 that relies on a ToneDen pre-save link needs a new pre-save set up now, so fans who saved it before the shutdown aren't lost along the way.

Ads keep running, and keep spending

This is the part that can cost money. On December 1, ToneDen stops managing campaigns, including budget optimization and switching ads on and off, but the campaigns themselves stay live in Meta and Google. They keep spending until someone changes them.

To stop them, pause them or set an end date directly in Meta Ads Manager or Google Ads. Playbooks such as Spotify Growth and Instagram Growth end on December 1, and their ads remain in the ad account exactly as ToneDen left them. ToneDen never held ad budgets, so there's no ad spend to refund.

ToneDen's reporting dashboards end on December 1 too. Save any campaign reports before then. Meta pixels and datasets belong to the user's Meta Business account and aren't affected.

Once the campaigns are handled, remove ToneDen's access: in Facebook under Business Integrations, and in a Google Account under Third-party apps and services.

Contests, unlocks and integrations

Social unlocks and contests stop on December 1. A contest scheduled to run past that date should be ended early, with winners picked before the shutdown. Zapier connections and API access stop the same day.

Download your data by November 30

November 30, 2026 is the last day to get a copy of your data. After that, ToneDen says the data is "permanently deleted under our data retention practices," apart from billing and payment records it is legally required to keep. The export includes account and profile details, campaign and smart link data, and fan contact information.

Accounts that sign in with Facebook or Google can log in, open the profile and choose "View your data." Contacts already exported to an email tool or CRM stay there.

Accounts can be deleted early, but deletion can't be undone, so download first.

Billing

All subscriptions cancel automatically on December 1. Paid periods that run past that date get a prorated refund, issued on December 1, which can take 5 to 10 business days to arrive. Users can also cancel any time before then.

Eventbrite accounts are not affected

Eventbrite bought ToneDen in 2021, and that side of the product continues. Accounts connected to Eventbrite stay available at eb.toneden.io and in Eventbrite's Marketing Workspace, with data, billing and campaigns unchanged. Event organizers can keep running Facebook and Instagram ads from Eventbrite's Marketing tools. Connected accounts see a banner when they sign in. Standalone ToneDen accounts can't be moved over to Eventbrite.

The checklist

  1. Download your data before November 30.
  2. Pause or set end dates on every ToneDen campaign in Meta Ads Manager and Google Ads.
  3. Save campaign reports.
  4. Replace every ToneDen link in bios, sites, emails, ads and print.
  5. Move pre-saves for releases after December 1.
  6. End contests early and pick winners.
  7. Update DNS on any custom domain.
  8. Remove ToneDen's access in Facebook and Google.
