Spotify ended the third quarter of 2026 with 306 million Premium subscribers, and Latin America now accounts for 24 percent of them, one point behind North America at 25 percent. Europe leads at 36 percent. The figures come from Spotify's Q3 2026 shareholder deck, reported October 22.
Latin America's share has climbed steadily. It was 21 percent in Q3 2022 and 23 percent a year ago, according to Music Business Worldwide. That outlet estimates the region's subscriber count at roughly 73 million. Spotify does not disclose that number, so treat it as an estimate rather than a company figure.
Who pays in the region
About 44 percent of Spotify's monthly listeners in Latin America pay, compared with 39 percent globally, per the same MBW report. The region's listeners convert to paid at a higher rate than the global average.
The population-level picture is different. On the earnings call, co-CEO Alex Norström put paying penetration at around 11 percent of the region's population, against nearly 50 percent in Sweden, according to the call transcript. Most people in Latin America are not yet paying subscribers, which is the room left to grow.
CFO Christian Luiga said the quarter's outperformance was led by rest of world and Latin America, as summarized by Musically.
Why the subscriber mix matters for payouts
Premium subscriptions are what fund the bulk of streaming royalties, so the share of paying listeners in a region affects the money available to the artists those listeners stream. A growing paid base in Latin America means more subscription revenue tied to the music the region listens to.
The wider industry numbers point the same direction. IFPI's 2026 report had Latin America's recorded music revenue up 17.1 percent in 2025, the fastest growth of any region.
Spotify did not break out a per-stream rate for the region in the materials above, and this piece makes no claim about one.
What comes next
Spotify reports its next quarter in the new year, and the regional subscriber split in that deck will show whether Latin America closes the remaining point on North America. At the current pace, with the share moving from 21 percent to 23 percent to 24 percent over successive comparison points, the region is the fastest-moving part of the subscriber base.
