Los Pleneros de la Cresta released their new album, "Puerto Rico abraza al mundo," on Friday, October 23, 2026. The plena group, whose members are Joseph, Joshuan and Jeyluix Ocasio Rivera and Josué Román Figueroa, built the record from well-known songs of the countries they visited on their 2026 world tour, with local musicians and instruments on each one.

Most listeners outside the island first heard the group on the "Café con ron" feature. This album is its own project, and it follows "Sentimiento y Cultura," released in 2024. El Nuevo Día and Metro Puerto Rico both covered the release.

The songs

According to the reports, the album reworks "De música ligera" (Argentina), "Más que nada" (Brazil), "La Múcura" (Colombia), "Cielito Lindo" (Mexico, with a mariachi) and "Alma, corazón y vida" (Peru). EFE's account, as carried in the coverage, adds "Gracias a la vida" for Chile. WAPA lists "Caña Brava" for the Dominican Republic and "La Fórmula" for Spain.

The outlets do not list the same countries, and no complete tracklist appears in the sources reviewed here. The final track count and country list should be confirmed on the streaming services before being quoted.

How it was recorded

The record was made in pieces across the tour. Panderos and güiro were partly recorded in hotel rooms on the road. Backing vocals were recorded at Abbey Road in London, and lead vocals at Elysium in France.

Each song carries the sound of the place it comes from, played by musicians from that country, with plena percussion running through the arrangements. The group kept the plena instruments as the common thread while the guest instruments changed from song to song.

Where to listen

The album is out now. No launch show has been announced, and the band has not named dates for a Puerto Rico performance of the full record.
