Cheryl Rivera released Arrullo de agua on November 2 with the video for "Quiero ser." She plays the album live November 12 at Jardín al Bosque in Río Piedras.

Cheryl Rivera, an independent Puerto Rican singer-songwriter with more than 15 years in music, released her new album, Arrullo de agua, on November 2, along with the video for its opening track, "Quiero ser." She presents the album live on Thursday, November 12, at Jardín al Bosque in Río Piedras, El Nuevo Día reported.

The album and the single are out on all digital platforms and on Rivera's YouTube channel. The show is the third edition of Conciertos al bosque, held in the garden next to the Jardín Botánico, according to the Fundación Nacional para la Cultura Popular (FNCP).

"Quiero ser"

The song started on a trip to Peru, where Rivera bought a charango. It's about wanting to be everything a loved one needs, and it sets Latin American folk over Uruguayan candombe drums. David Marrero produced it at OX Lab Studio.

Rivera developed the video concept with producer Oné Colón Brau, and Viviana Torres Mestey directed and edited it. It draws on the Hindu goddess Shakti, with multiple arms, Hindu-inspired clothing and a lot of red.

The album

Arrullo de agua runs from love, joy and movement to nostalgia, sadness and rebirth. The FNCP says it includes new songs and some tracks Rivera had already released as singles. She told El Nuevo Día she built the record around the elements of nature because they are "el principio básico de la vida," the basic principle of life.

It follows Matria, her first solo album, which the FNCP named among the 20 standout productions of 2019. Marrero has worked with her before: he produced her 2023 single "Selva," Metro Puerto Rico reported at the time.

The concert

Thursday, November 12, at Jardín al Bosque, Río Piedras. She'll play songs from the new album in an open-air setting surrounded by trees. Start time and ticket prices weren't in the announcements. Rivera posts show updates on Instagram.
