Go to Dashboard → Release Kit → Editorial Pitch.
What it is (plain)
DSPs (Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Amazon Music, Deezer) have editorial teams that curate playlists like New Music Friday, RapCaviar, Today's Top Hits, A-List Pop. Those teams accept pitches from artists, distributors, and labels.
The pitch is a structured form: who you are, what the song sounds like, who else sounds like it, who it is for, why this song right now. BCKSTG generates a ready-to-submit version of that pitch from your release details.
When to use it
Before any release that has a real shot at editorial placement. Spotify in particular favors pitches submitted 7+ days before release, that window is when their editors actually read them. Pitch every single, EP, and album you want playlist support on.
The pitch text is also useful as the body of an email to an independent playlist curator, a label A&R, a DSP-relations contact you already have, or any human gatekeeper who needs the same info in their inbox.
What you get
The generated pitch as text you can copy and paste into:
- Spotify for Artists pitch form
- Apple Music for Artists pitch form
- Direct emails to curators, label contacts, or your distributor's pitch team
- Any other DSP submission form that asks the same questions
BCKSTG does NOT submit the pitch to Spotify or Apple for you. You copy the generated text into the official pitch form (or your email).
What you need ready
- The release added to your BCKSTG profile with a release date
- Genre, mood, and a description of how the song sounds
- 3 to 5 "sounds like" artist names
- The audience this song speaks to
- Any momentum, press, or context worth mentioning
Editorial Pitch vs Press Release vs One-Sheet
- Editorial Pitch = the curator-facing case for one specific song or release. Goes into a DSP pitch form or curator email.
- Press Release = the journalist-facing announcement. Goes to press, blogs, radio.
- One-Sheet = the all-purpose PDF snapshot. Goes to anyone who asks for "your EPK."
See Which Release Kit tool should I use? for the side-by-side.
Cost
1 Release Kit credit per pitch.
Tips
- Be specific about genre and mood, vague pitches get skipped.
- Include your release date (7+ days before release performs best on Spotify's system).
- Add context about your audience size and any existing press.
