Your own SMS number

Why you need your own number

Texting your fans on BCKSTG requires you to have your own assigned number. We do not share a pool, and we will not text your fans from a generic BCKSTG line. Your fans see your number, save your contact, and reply to you.

Until your number is active, the SMS leg of every send (release announcements, super-fan broadcasts, the SMS composer in Guest List) is skipped silently. The email leg still goes. Your fans never get half-sent messages from the wrong sender.

How to get one

  1. Go to Messages in Guest List.
  2. Tap Get Your Number.
  3. We confirm with you and provision the number on our end. Most numbers are live within minutes; a small share take longer, depending on the carrier.

When your number goes live, three things happen automatically:

  • An email lands in your inbox with the number formatted big.
  • Every fan who already opted into your texts gets a one-time intro from your new number: "[Your name]: it's me, you signed up for my texts on my BCKSTG page. Save my contact..." with a link to your contact card. They do not pay credits for this; you do not pay credits for it either.
  • You get the same intro yourself, because you are now subscribed to your own list (more on that in the contact card article).

What it costs

The number is included with your active Pro/Lifetime plan. SMS credits are separate. See How SMS credits work.

Losing the number

If you cancel, or your number sits idle long enough that we reclaim it, the SMS leg of every send turns off again. Your fans stay on your list and keep getting email. When you reactivate, your new number gets a fresh intro to everyone on the list.
