Already bought a domain somewhere else? You can connect it to your BCKSTG page without buying a new one.
How it works
- Open Dashboard, Domain, then click "Use a domain I own".
- Type your domain and hit "Connect domain". We register the domain with our hosting provider so SSL gets issued automatically.
- You'll see two DNS records to add. Copy them.
- Log in to whoever sold you the domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, whatever). Find their DNS or "manage records" section. Add what we gave you.
- Come back to BCKSTG and click "Check status". You're done.
The DNS records
Use CNAME if your registrar supports CNAME on the root domain. Most modern registrars do (Cloudflare, Namecheap, GoDaddy, Google Domains, Squarespace).
If your registrar does not support root CNAME (some older or basic-tier registrars), use the A record instead. It points at the same place.
We do not need both. Pick one.
How long does it take
DNS changes propagate within minutes for most registrars, but can take up to 48 hours worst case. The "Check status" button polls our hosting provider live, so as soon as the record is visible to us, your page goes live.
Removing the domain
Click "Remove domain". Traffic stops routing through it immediately. The domain itself stays yours; we just stop using it.
Cost
We do not charge for connecting a domain you already own. You keep paying your existing registrar for the domain itself.
